Chicago Human Rhythm Project honors Donna LaPietra and Bill Kurtis
Annual JUBALEE Gala November 7 on Jay Pritzker Pavillion Stage in Millennium Park
Chicago, IL –The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), the world’s first year-round presenter of American tap dance and contemporary percussive arts, hosts JUBALEE, its annual gala benefit supporting performance, education and community programs. This special evening takes place November 7 at 5:30 p.m. on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion Stage in Millennium Park.
JUBA Award and performances
At this year’s JUBALEE, CHRP will honor Chicago civic leaders Donna LaPietra and Bill Kurtis with a JUBA Award for their Lifetime Commitment to Chicago and longtime support of CHRP. “Donna and Bill are known as tireless champions of many nonprofit institutions in Chicago, and they have made a critical difference in CHRP’s growth and success over the last five years, leading annual fundraising events and championing our mission to promote social reconciliation through percussive arts,” said CHRP Founder and Director Lane Alexander.
The evening begins with a cocktail reception and a silent auction, followed by a live auction and performances including the North American premiere of Rasta Thomas’ Tap Stars, CHRP’s performing ensemble BAM!, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago, Chicago Dance Crash, Mayfair Dance Academy and other special guests. The evening concludes with dinner and a dessert reception where guests can meet the evening’s performers.
JUBALEE VIPs
Gala co-chairs are WLS-TV/ABC 7 reporter Theresa Gutierrez, CHRP board member Diana E. Harris and Harold and Lynn Leftwich.
